Finished in optional Deep Black, the California has been customised with a top half in Cream. This is simply a vinyl wrap, so can be removed if desired.
Being an Ocean, this is the top of the range model with every consideration made to be the ultimate camper. This includes a stainless steel sink, temperature controlled cool/warm box, on-board fresh and waste water tanks, electric hook-up, four-berth accommodation, masses of storage and the all-important pop-up roof that’s been a hallmark of Volkswagen campers down the ages.
The Ocean’s pop-top is electrically powered, and this example has the optional lower berth with comfort mattress included. Those upstairs benefit from a standard-fit mattress and energy LED lighting.
Other features over the Beach model include the central control panel which allows you to control both the pop-top, but also the battery charge, fridge temperate, water levels, waking alarm, and park heating. There’s also further storage, three-zone climate control, heated seats, heated mirrors, double-glazing and compartments for gas storage and waste water.
As you can see from the photos, our California comes with an awning, and even camping chairs which neatly stow away in the tailgate.
Upfront, there’s the Discover Pro Navigation with Apple CarPlay connectivity and the USB interface. There’s also optional washable seat covers, and heavy duty rubber mats to make cleaning up after a trip far easier.
Driving is made far easier with the fantastic automatic DSG gearbox, optional Cruise Control, optional Reversing Camera, and 150bhp Diesel engine that is both Euro 6 compliant and can achieve a genuine 40mpg.
The car comes with our 6-Month Extendable Warranty, which can be used UK-wide, as well a 12-Month MOT.
